• A family-based Green Card, when there is a qualifying family member who can file a valid petition.

None of these alternatives is granted automatically simply because someone previously had TPS. Each immigration benefit has its own independent eligibility requirements.

As of September 2026, USCIS continues to state that Honduras’ designation and related TPS benefits ended on September 8, 2025. The termination remains in effect while the judicial appeal continues.

As the timeline above shows, the litigation resulted in several temporary changes. A federal court vacated the termination at the end of 2025, but the Ninth Circuit stayed that decision in February 2026.

In June 2026, the Supreme Court also ruled on other cases involving TPS terminations. Although the ruling did not directly decide the Honduras issue, it is relevant to the legal framework surrounding the litigation.

DHS also published its decision terminating TPS for Honduras, explaining the reasons announced by the agency.

For now, there is no new general TPS for Honduras designation in 2026.
